Frequently Asked Questions

  • There is a mild sensation of heat, but you will not feel pain. At times, you may feel a slight pinching feeling, but it is brief and tolerable. Let your provider know if you ever feel uncomfortable, and they can briefly pause or lower the intensity.

  • Individual results will vary. While some may see results in just one treatment, others may need multiple treatments. We recommend a series of treatments. Most skin concerns can be addressed with 4-6 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart.

  • After treatment, your skin will look and feel calm, bright, and refreshed (and maybe a little tight). Most clients experience little to no downtime, so you can return to your normal activities right away. It’s normal to have mild warmth or slight redness immediately after, but this typically fades within a few hours. Active breakouts, ingrowns, or inflamed areas may look less red right away and continue to improve over the next few days as inflammation settles.

Over the following weeks, you’ll notice gradual improvements in redness, tone, texture, and overall clarity as collagen stimulation and skin repair continue. There is no peeling or flaking, but we do recommend gentle skincare, avoiding excessive heat the same day, and wearing sunscreen to protect and maintain your results.

  • You can wear makeup the same day as your treatment, as long as your skin feels comfortable. We usually recommend waiting a few hours to let the skin fully cool and settle first. Stick to clean brushes and gentle, non-irritating products, and avoid heavy or occlusive makeup. Most clients are able to apply makeup later that day with no issues. Do not forget to wear SPF - protect your investment, or should we say skinvestment.

  • This treatment is not recommended during pregnancy. While the laser energy is not known to be harmful, we avoid elective laser treatments during pregnancy out of an abundance of caution and because hormonal changes can make skin more reactive and unpredictable.

If you are breastfeeding, the treatment is generally considered safe since the laser works only at the skin level and does not affect breast milk. However, we always recommend checking with your doctor or healthcare provider prior to treatment to ensure it’s appropriate for you and to give you peace of mind.

  • Yes, we intentionally sought this laser out because it allows us to treat all patients regardless of the color of their skin.

ClearSilk is designed to gently heat the skin without targeting melanin, which makes it a great option for melanin-rich and pigment-prone skin. It improves redness, texture, and overall tone while minimizing the risk of hyper- and hypopigmentation that can come with more aggressive lasers.

Treatments are always customized to your skin tone and concerns, and we recommend a consultation to ensure settings are perfectly tailored for you, so results are safe, effective, and consistent.

  • Full results develop gradually as the skin heals and collagen production increases. For concerns like redness, acne, PFB, melasma, and texture, you’ll typically see more noticeable, lasting improvement after 4–6 treatments, spaced a few weeks apart.

Results continue to build over several weeks after your final session, with optimal outcomes usually visible about 8–12 weeks into your treatment series, depending on your skin concerns and consistency.

  • This laser improves acne by safely treating active breakouts while also helping prevent future ones. ClearSilk gently heats the skin to calm inflammation, reduce redness and swelling around active acne, and target bacteria beneath the surface, which helps blemishes heal faster and look less irritated. At the same time, it improves circulation and supports healthier skin turnover, leading to fewer breakouts and a more balanced complexion over time. It also works wonders on post-acne redness and lingering marks by targeting the vascular components that cause red acne scars, helping skin tone look clearer and more even. As a bonus, it stimulates collagen to smooth shallow acne scarring and refine texture—all with zero downtime and safe for all skin types, year-round.

  • This treatment works by gently targeting excess pigment while calming the inflammation and vascular activity that often trigger and worsen melasma and hyperpigmentation. ClearSilk delivers controlled heat deep into the skin to improve circulation, stimulate collagen, and regulate pigment production without damaging the skin’s surface, making it especially important for pigment-prone skin. ClearV can also help address the redness and vascular components that contribute to stubborn discoloration. Together, they help fade dark patches gradually, even out skin tone, and reduce the likelihood of pigment rebounding—without aggressive peeling or downtime and while remaining safe for all skin tones.

  • This treatment improves rosacea and redness by targeting the root cause - visible blood vessels and chronic inflammation, rather than just masking symptoms. ClearV specifically treats the dilated blood vessels that create persistent redness and flushing, helping to reduce redness at the source, while ClearSilk gently heats the skin to calm inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier, and improve overall tone. Together, they help soothe reactive skin, reduce flare-ups over time, and leave the complexion looking clearer, calmer, and more even without irritating or overheating sensitive rosacea-prone skin.

  • Pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) improves because this treatment targets the inflammation and vascular irritation that cause painful bumps and lingering redness. ClearV helps reduce the redness and visible inflammation around ingrown hairs by treating the vascular component, allowing bumps to calm and heal more quickly. ClearSilk gently heats the skin to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and support healthier skin turnover, which helps prevent hairs from becoming trapped under the skin. Over time, this leads to fewer ingrowns, smoother texture, and less post-inflammatory discoloration—without irritating the skin or worsening sensitivity, making it ideal for PFB-prone areas. Typically, we recommend 3–6 treatments spaced about 3–4 weeks apart. This allows the laser to consistently reduce inflammation, calm the vascular response, and support healthier skin turnover as new hair cycles come in. With each treatment, bumps tend to resolve faster, redness decreases, and the frequency and severity of ingrowns improve. We typically see improvement after just one session.

  • The laser is attracted to melanin, hemoglobin, and water. Why is this important? The laser targets water in the dermis to stimulate collagen production which then reduces and improves fine lines, it improves the appearance of the pores and also tightens the skin. Then, if present, the laser targets melanin and hemoglobin to clear brown spots, clear vascular lesions, and suppresses inflammation. The result is tighter skin that is clear and rejuvenated, and the collagen production process is in motion.

  • There is no downtime. You may feel a bit sunburned or windburned.
